The Canadian Hairstylist of the Year Awards—the Contessas—are the gold standard in Canadian professional beauty with the longest-running track record of excellence. Since 1988, the Contessas bring the best of Canada’s talent together each year to measure their creativity in a photo-based competition. The Contessas are open to all licensed beauty professionals, from coast to coast and internationally.

To crown the Contessa winners, an ultra-glam gala is held every year in Toronto, where the winners are announced to a full house of 1,000 attendees.

The big night kicks off with a lavish cocktail party, where you get a chance to rub shoulders with the best of the best in the industry. Guests enjoy a formal sit-down dinner before the big show, which features the awards ceremony and three showstopping inspiring presentations by Quantum Hair, Glassbox Barber and a surprise special guest (see past presentations on the Contessa video page). The magical evening ends with an exclusive after-party.
